In this class students will be learning about media and broadcast production. Students will learn how to produce, direct, edit, and anchor different types of news stories relevant to our American Academy community. Broadcasts may be shown via the school’s closed-circuit television system and/or published on our website.

 

Students will be required to work outside of class to meet deadlines and prepare for broadcasts.  Students are expected to treat all equipment with great care and respect and may be held responsible for damages resulting from intentional neglect.

 

These classes do not begin until the week of January 12th and continue throughout the semester.   The class is limited so enroll early.

 

 

Movie Making

2015 Semester II                    CP:       Mondays from 3:45-5:15    PKR:  Tuesdays 3:45–5:15pm                                

Prerequisite:                           Grades 5-8

Instructor:                              Mr. JP Ferraro

 

This class is open to students who would like to learn to make movies by being in front of and/or behind the camera.  Students will work together to create script, film shots in which they can direct, run the camera, or star in the scene, and then edit footage into a story or documentary.  This class will be led by a local professional film maker, Mr. JP Ferraro.  Students will be required to manage equipment (school provided) or they can provide their own, and filming will take place outside of class time.  The class will focus on concept, writing, and editing footage.  Students will finish the class with a copy of their own movie to post on Youtube, or to show friends and family!

 

Credit for this class may be given for Acting for the Camera as well as Film Editing, Screenwriting, Movies and Methods, or Story Telling.

Film

Classes are $10/hour with enrollment. $12.50/hour without enrollment.
